BrainStorm Live Episode 10: Why Early Detection Is Key to Preventive Brain Care?

Amprion’s CSO Dr. Claudio Soto talks preventative brain care and the critical need of new technologies in early detection for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other neurodegenerative diseases. The absence of accurate early detection is the primary reason for the lack of effective treatments today despite enormous spending in drug development over the past three decades. There is not even a single drug that passes the FDA approval for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s today. Amprion’s revolutionary Prion Early Detection Science℠ is the game changer—Our Early Testing for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s tracks the bad actors that drive the disease before any clinical symptoms. Through early detection at the molecular level, we can now accelerate successful drug development for these neurodegenerative diseases.

Importance of Preventative Brain Care

This is absolutely the problem today. The diagnosis today is too late because it happens when the people start to develop problems and normally people wait for some time, they don’t go immediately to the doctor. So when the doctor receives them there is already the brain is already destroyed. So what we need is to have a test that can say much before that you are in the process to develop Alzheimer’s disease or Parkinson’s disease. Pretty much what is done for example, measuring cholesterol to prevent vascular or prevent heart diseases, so that you can prevent the problem when it just is starting. We are trying to develop preventative brain care at Amprion.
